This memorable image of Johnny Bench walking through the dugout appeared on the Wheaties cereal box, released in 1989. Sam Viviano re-created this image, which is now depicted on acetate. This limited edition piece is hand-painted with xerographed lines. Each cel was created using the same methods used in preparing actual production cels.
Sam Viviano has been a full-time freelance illustrator in New York since 1976. Specializing in caricature and humorous illustration, he includes among his clients many of the country's major advertising agencies as well as such magazines as Field and Stream, Reader's Digest and MAD magazine.
The certificate has been specifically created to ensure the authenticity of this Johnny Bench limited edition and is signed by president of Toon Art, Inc., David Underhill. There is a major-league baseball seal along with signatures from both Johnny Bench and Sam Viviano. Also included is an 8 x 10 photo of Johnny Bench, taken during the signing of this edition. This cel is numbered H.C. 22 in a total edition of 250 with 25 artist proofs and 25 hrs commerce.
